About this tool
This page helps you aim for a specific PDF file size — useful for email limits, upload portals, and storage caps. Compression runs in your browser using pdf.js and pdf-lib (pages are rasterized to JPEG, then rebuilt as a new PDF).
Processing stays on your device: nothing is uploaded to our servers for conversion.
How to compress a PDF to a target size
- Upload your PDF (drag-and-drop or file picker).
- Enter the target size and pick KB or MB, or tap a quick preset.
- Click "Compress PDF" and wait for analysis and compression.
- Download the result when the run finishes.

FAQ
- Can I use this tool for free?
- Yes. There is no charge to use this page.
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- No. Analysis and compression use pdf.js and pdf-lib locally in your browser; your PDF bytes are not sent to our servers for conversion.
- Does this really compress PDFs?
- Yes. Each page is rasterized to JPEG and rebuilt into a new PDF, so file size can drop sharply. Text may no longer be selectable, and very aggressive targets may not be reachable.
- Which target sizes are supported?
- Any positive KB/MB value you type, plus quick presets such as 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB, 5 MB, and 10 MB.
- What if my target is too aggressive?
- The tool estimates an achievable size range. If your target looks unrealistic, you can continue anyway (we will try harder) or tighten the goal with “Try stronger compression”. Results depend on page count and imagery.
